100% Nature Trek in Hoggar

7 days of hiking – Assekrem, Téfedest & Garet El Djenoun

A rare journey. A pure adventure. The Sahara as you have never seen it.

Discover an authentic, wild, and mineral Hoggar, far from the crowds and classic paths. An itinerary designed for lovers of walking, silence, wide open spaces, and nights in bivouacs under one of the most starry skies in the world.

A journey where each day is lived intensely: volcanic landscapes, mythical ascents, Tuareg encounters, rock art, golden lights… A trekking experience that marks a lifetime.

In the footsteps of Saharan explorers: between Tefedest and Garet El Djenoun

Discover one of the most beautiful routes in the Hoggar, inspired by the tales of Roger Frison-Roche and the spirit of the early explorers of the Sahara. This journey takes you to the heart of an exceptional mineral universe, where granite mountains rise like forgotten cathedrals against the vastness of the desert.

The Tefedest: a timeless granite massif

300 km north of Tamanrasset, the Tefedest stretches its sharp ridges over nearly 100 km. An isolated region, rarely traversed, it offers a total immersion in an authentic Sahara:

  • secret valleys,

  • wadis shaded by acacias and tamarisks,

  • vast regs and golden dunes.

Our itinerary winds between the iconic peaks of Arrechoum, Takoufi, and Timakatine, revealing rock formations sculpted by millennia of wind and silence.

Garet El Djenoun: the mythical mountain

The highlight of the journey, Garet El Djenoun (2,327 m) remains one of the most emblematic places in the Hoggar. Frison-Roche ascended it in 1935 and described this summit as "inhabited by the soul of the desert."

Its access, between scree and low-angled light, offers a stunning panorama: a vast ocean of sand crashing against the granite walls of the Tefedest.

A true Saharan odyssey

Walking in the Tefedest and towards Garet El Djenoun is to experience a journey where each step tells a story: that of the nomads, the explorers, and the landscapes shaped by time. A rare, intense, and profoundly authentic experience.
